The Very Beginning
I grew up from a family of crafters, my grandparents are both tailors, my aunts were embroiders, and my father works in an upholstery shop.
This is probably why I was encouraged to try and learn crocheting the first time I watched someone holding a thread and hook making loops and stitches by hand.
Although as a beginner, I tend to get overwhelmed by how wide the choices are and which shop provides the best materials to use.
I still remember my first attempt to make a keychain with acrylic yarn I ordered online and paired with a budget hook in hand, every stitch felt rough – it would snag and pull constantly. I almost gave up. It wasn’t until I invested to a proper hook, high-quality hooks made all the difference
To avoid the same mistakes I made in the past, I will give you a few tips to make your journey easier and enjoyable!
• Invest on a high-end hooks
• If you would like to make wearables, I recommend using fine cotton yarns or combed cotton, there’s bamboo yarns too if you opt to a lighter garment but I prefer the first two for more drapery look
• Milk cottons which you can use for making bouquets, flower pots, amigurumis and keychain.
• Wearables for infants and toddlers I recommend catcraft yarns as most of their threads are made out of 100% cotton
