My Joy Amigurumi is finally starting to look like Joy! ππ§Ά
If youβve been following along with my crochet journey, you might remember that I started making my own little Joy amigurumi from Inside Out. If you missed the beginning, you can catch up here:

This time, Iβm skipping the introduction and getting straight into the fun part because look at her! She has a face now! π
I embroidered her blue eyes instead of using safety eyes, and Iβm really happy with how they turned out. I decided to do this because I want my amigurumi dolls to be as child friendly as possible. Since these little handmade dolls may eventually find their way into the hands of children, I would rather embroider the facial features than use small hardware pieces.
It does take a little extra patience, but I think it gives Joy an even more handmade personality. π
Joy Is Getting Her Hair
And then came the hair.
Oh boy. π

I initially made the hair strands much bigger because apparently my crochet tension decided to do its own thing. π₯

Thankfully, I had NOT cut the yarn yet!
That little detail saved me from having to sacrifice perfectly good blue yarn to the crochet gods. π£π I was able to undo the strands and reuse the yarn, which made me very happy because I am already thinking about how much blue yarn Iβm going to need for Sadness.
I am saving every single strand of blue yarn at this point. π₯²π
Nothing goes to waste around here!
I eventually made the hair strands smaller, and I think they suit Joy much better. Sheβs starting to look more and more like the cheerful little character I imagined when I first started crocheting her.

And yes, I also added the skirt part of her dress!
She is officially getting dressed now. ππ
A Little Crochet Conversation With My Husband π
Last night, while I was making some touch ups to Joyβs hair, my husband randomly asked me:
βWhat are you going to be if you were a crochet project?β
Without even thinking about it, I answered:
βIβll be a willy warmer.β π
And then he replied me with
βIβll be a swimsuit.β
Wellβ¦
Apparently we really ARE partners. ππ
Honestly, having someone who shares the same mindset and, letβs just say, the same level of nawtiness makes the journey last longer and makes it so much more fun. πβ€οΈ
I think these are the little moments that make a relationship enjoyable. Sometimes you donβt need anything fancy. You just need someone who can match your weirdness, laugh at the same ridiculous things, and happily participate in completely unnecessary crochet related conversations. π
Meanwhile, Joy is just sitting there getting her hair done, completely unaware of the nonsense happening around her. π€£π§Ά
The Pattern Behind Joy
For anyone wondering about the pattern Iβm using, Iβm following the Alegria Amigurumi π | Intensamente Personajes Crochet Tutorial by Nudo y Tejido on YouTube.
Iβm following the tutorial as my guide while making my own version of Joy Amigurumi, including my own little choices along the way, like embroidering her facial features.
I really enjoy projects like this because even when you follow a pattern, thereβs still room to add your own little touches and personality to the finished piece.
And honestly, thatβs what makes handmade things so special. π₯°
Slowly But Surely, Joy Is Coming Together
At this stage, Joy is looking much more complete than when I first started.
She has her face, her blue eyes, her dress, and now her hair is slowly coming together too.
There are still plenty of little details to work on, but seeing her take shape stitch by stitch is making me ridiculously excited. π
And while Iβm enjoying every minute of making Joy, Iβm already thinking about the next character.
Sadness.
And yesβ¦
Iβm already worried about the blue yarn. π₯²π
So Iβm keeping every little leftover strand because apparently my yarn stash now has a conservation program.
Nothing gets wasted.
Not on my watch. ππ§Ά
What Do You Think of Joy So Far?
Iβm really curious to know what you think!
Do you think Joy is starting to look like Joy? π
And if you were a crochet project, what would YOU be?
Because apparently my husband and I have already decided what we would be. π
Leave me your answer in the comments. I need to know what kind of crochet chaos my readers would turn into. ππ§Ά
