Slow and steady outside, Chaos inside

The rain hasn’t stopped all day.

So we made the easy decision: stay home. No errands, no rushing. Just the sound of rain and a slow kind of day.

To keep the boredom away and actually be productive, I started with my workspace. It’s a happy mess of yarns, unfinished projects, and sewing materials. An hour of sorting later, I could finally see the table again. Small win.

Then I got curious and pulled out my big old black box. That’s where all my handmades and craft items live. Buttons, hooks, fabric scraps, and memories I forgot I had.

And tucked inside was the dress I recently made for my youngest daughter.

Holding it stopped me in my tracks.

I trace my fingers over the stitches and remembering the late nights counting loops, figuring out how to make the dress look flowy.

Fine cotton is my favorite for wearables. The color doesn’t fade over time, it’s so soft, and it’s recommended for sensitive skin. That’s why it’s my go-to for kids clothes or anything meant to be worn close to the body.

Now finding it again on a rainy day feels like the perfect timing. Cleaning turned into uncovering. Organizing turned into remembering.

Staying in didn’t feel boring today. It felt necessary.

What do you think — should I make her a matching headband or hair bow with the leftover yarn? I still have half a skein and those ruffles would look cute together.
